Gary Dale Pendleton

Gary Dale Pendleton, 75, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018 at the SOMC Hospice Center. He was born July 8, 1942 in Stout, Nile Township, to the late Charles and Edna Andis Kirk Pendleton.

Gary was president of Pendleton Implement Company and he loved to tinker with his farm equipment. He was of the Baptist faith and was a former licensed livestock dealer. He bought and sold for both the Schisler Butcher Co. of Portsmouth and the Logan Packing Co. of Huntington, WV. Gary was an avid horseman and former member of the American Quarter Horse Association, and he was a kind and generous man. He truly enjoyed helping others and liked nothing better than treating friends, old and new, to a meal.

Surviving Gary is his wife of 50 years, Linda Marie Perry Pendleton, whom he married in West Portsmouth July 4, 1967. Also surviving are his son, Garrett (Shawna) Pendleton of Lucasville; two siblings, Virginia Horsley of West Portsmouth and Ray Alfred Pendleton of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Helen Perry of Portsmouth.

In addition to his parents, Gary was also preceded in death by his son, Darren Todd Pendleton; and a brother, Carl Pendleton.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Dry Run Church of Christ in West Portsmouth with Rev. Mark Seevers officiating and interment in McKendree Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to services at the church Friday.
