Janice Faye Workman

Janice Faye Workman, 85, of Pikeville, KY, a lifetime Portsmouth resident, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Pikeville Nursing and Rehab. She was born on August 13, 1940, in Portsmouth, the daughter of the late Albert David Smith and Leona Blanche Pennywitt Smith Neff.

Janice graduated from Portsmouth High in 1958, and she enjoyed working as a waitress at the former Frisch’s and Brown Derby restaurants and as a cook at Rest Haven Nursing Home.  She was a creative person and made lovely crochet items, which she proudly displayed in her home. She also lovingly sewed costumes and special occasion outfits for her children and grandchildren. Janice had attended Christ’s Community Church when her health allowed.

Surviving her are her three daughters, Amy (Rick Yates) Slack of South Webster, Deborah (Steve) Gorin of Golden CO, and Melody (Al) Addasi of Pikeville, KY; 12 grandchildren, Rachel (Andy) Yates, Jessica (Andy) Bouts, Tanner (Destanneay) McGlone, Abby (Nick) Saltsman, Sara (Kenny) Baker, Matt (Danielle) Workman, Ashley (Tim) Brown, Amy Thompson, Emma (Dominic) Amos, Brenna (Andres) Bullon Delfin, Noah Fitzpatrick, and Ali (Daniel) Boswell; 29 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Monica Graham. Janice was looking forward to her first great-great-grandchild, expected soon.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by four sons, Terry Workman, James Randall Workman, Scott Edward Workman, and Stephen Workman; and her brother, William Smith.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6 P.M. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Scott Rawlings, Minister, officiating.

Inurnment will be at 9 A.M. in Memorial Burial Park on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Wednesday..
