Michael Allen Trivisonno

Michael Allen Trivisonno, age 71 went to be with his heavenly Father on April 19, 2026. He passed away at Southern Ohio Medical Center (SOMC) Inpatient Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on November 13, 1954 at Mercy Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth and married his wife Patti Pierce in 1981.

Mike retired after 39 years as a social worker in 2018. He received his BSW in 1979 from the University of Dayton, his MSW from the University of Kentucky in 1984 and became a Licensed Independent Social Worker. Throughout his career Mike worked for Scioto County Children’s Services as a caseworker, supervisor and later as the Executive Director for eight years. His true passion however was the field of medical social work. Mike worked as a social worker at Mercy Hospital but spent the last 12 years of his career as a hospice social worker for the SOMC Inpatient Hospice Center, where he found his true passion.

Mike was a lifelong member of Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. His Catholic faith and scripture study were an integral part of his life.

Proceeded in death by: two sons, Eric (1985) and Kevin (2017), parents, Charles and Mary Kay Trivisonno, maternal grandparents, Allen and Martha Griffin and paternal grandparents, Louis and Mary Trivisonno.

Mike is survived by: wife, Patti of 45 years, sisters, Patricia (Michael) Bendinelli of Canton, GA, Mary Trivisonno of Chapin, SC, brother-in-law, Tom Pierce (Heather Frost) of Batavia, OH, mother and father-in-law, Ann and Bob Pierce, Portsmouth, OH, nieces and nephews, Katie (George) Connolly, Chad (Heather) Bendinelli, Mark (Elizabeth) Bendinelli, Jeff Gohean, Ian (Ashleigh) Gohean, Maria (Will) Shannon, Colin (Madeline) Pierce and multiple great nieces and nephews.

Mike’s lifelong interests were walking, hiking, and visiting national parks. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals and Notre Dame and OSU football. Mike inherited his mom‘s compassion and his dad’s dry sense of humor and love of travel.

Visitation for friends and family will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home. A Recitation of the Rosary follow at 7:00 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Fulton officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
