Attempted Homicide Investigation and Arrest

 

March 9, 2026

 

On March 8, 2026, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Officers of the Portsmouth Police Department were called to 1817 Apt. F Thomas Ave. in Portsmouth in reference to a male that had been shot. Upon officers’ arrival, the male victim was located in the rear of 1817 Thomas Ave. behind apartment F. The victim was transported to SOMC by Portsmouth Fire/EMS. The victim was later transferred to an out of county trauma center for further treatment.

 

Portsmouth Police Patrol officers located and detained two suspects that were involved in the shooting. Patrol officers also located and recovered a firearm.

 

Portsmouth Police Department Detective Division responded to the scene to further investigate the incident. After a thorough investigation, detectives have charged the below two suspects:

 

Brennen Malakyii Russell (Juvenile) of West Portsmouth, Ohio

1. Attempted Murder F-1
2. Aggravated Robbery F-1
3. Tampering with Evidence F-3
4. Felonious Assault F-2

 

 

Colten A. Harmon (Adult) of West Portsmouth, Ohio

1. Aggravated Robbery
2. Felonious Assault
