Walter Ray Arnold

Walter Ray Arnold, 95, of Wheelersburg, a former Lucasville resident, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth.

He was born June 2, 1930 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Alva Ray and Lena Katherine Anderson Arnold. Walter was a 1947 Clay High School graduate and a US Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was from the former Atomic Plant in Piketon, where he worked as instrument maintenance head. Walter was a member for many years of the Lucasville Masonic Lodge, a former Boy Scout leader, and member of both Rubyville Fire Department and Morgan Township Fire Department, where he was a former chief. He was a member of Howard Christian Community Church, where he was a former pastor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jean Arnold, on May 12, 2010; and a sister, Charlotte Horsley.

Walter is survived by his son, Tim (Norma) Arnold of Lucasville; his daughters, Beverly (Ray) Eichenlaub of Otway, Lori Kreckow of Yipsilanti, Michigan, and Kathi Jo (Josh) McAlister of Lucasville; six grandchildren, Christopher, Jason, and Justin Ashworth, Anthony Arnold, and Brandon and Allison Zornes; three great-grandchildren, Hudson Arnold, and James and John Ashworth; a brother, Floyd Arnold of Sciotodale; and a sister, Alberta June Porter of Wheelersburg.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 16, 2026 at McKinley Funeral Home, with Bob Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Burial Park, with military graveside services by the William Baker and James Dickey posts, American Legion. Friends may call from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm Sunday, February 15, 2026 at the funeral home and an hour before the services on Monday.
