Barbara Ann Whitman

Barbara Ann Whitman, 77, of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully Monday, November 24, 2025, in hospice care at Bristol Village Waverly, Ohio surrounded by loved ones.

Born on February 17, 1948 in Martin County, Kentucky, Barb was a deeply loved mother, sissy, aunt and friend. She was known for her kind heart, gentle strength, and the way she cared for everyone around her. Her warmth and compassion touched countless lives, and she created a home where everyone felt welcomed and loved.

Barb found joy in the simple moments spent with family. Her laughter, wisdom, and steady presence will be missed more than words can express.

She is survived by her son J.D. (Molly) Whitman of Wheelersburg; two granddaughters Maggie and Sydney Whitman of Grandview Heights, Ohio; two sisters Edna May Kilgore of Pilgrim, Kentucky, and Columbia Kilgore (Johnny) of Callahan, Florida; along with many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Barbara is proceeded in death by her parents, three sisters, three brothers and a brother and a sister at birth.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg, with Daniel Lee Jude and Claude Jude officiating.

The family wishes to thank Bristol Village along with their Hospice staff for their compassion and care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The USSA Adult Day Care Center at PO Box 597 Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.  In care of: Jamie Williams.

Barb had a deep calling to care for loved ones in need, and we feel like the care given at the Adult Day Care is a wonderful service to support.

Her memory will live on through all who loved her.
