Edith Blanton Bittinger

Edith Blanton Bittinger, 78, of Portsmouth, a former Lucasville resident, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2025 at SOMC Hospice.

She was born September 26, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland, a daughter of the late Harmon Lee and Grace Johnson Bittinger.

Edith was a homemaker and enjoyed painting and her flower garden.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Blanton, May 23, 2022; son, Scott Blanton; one brother, Gelsey Johnson; and four sisters, Mary Wolf Bittinger, Sue Anderson Bittinger, Linda Thompson Bittinger, and Nancy Williams Bittinger.

Edith is survived by her son, Bryan (Rhonda) Blanton of Wheelersburg; four brothers, Dennis Bittinger of Lucasville, Paul Bittinger of Portsmouth, Roger Bittinger of South Point, and John Bittinger of Portsmouth; one sister, Shirley Carter Bittinger of Florida; and a special niece with whom she made her home, Grace Thomas of Portsmouth.

Visitation will be held 1to 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville. Graveside services will follow in Big Run Cemetery in Lucasville.
