Thelma Grace Bloomfield

Thelma Grace Bloomfield, 101, daughter of Troy and Meldora Burchett went to be with her Lord and loved ones on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025.

Thelma had lived in the Rosemount area since her birth, August 7th, 1924. She married Eugene C. Bloomfield January 31st, 1943 who went to be with the Lord on October 12th, 2005. Born to this union were their four children; Gloria Santiago and Dennis Bloomfield who proceeded her in death and Faith E.(Michael- deceased) Ramey, and Philip E.(Rebecca) Bloomfield. She was blessed with 12 living grandchildren, 2 deceased, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Grace, known by many, attended school on Scioto Trail and 1 year in Portsmouth High School before enrolling in the American School to finish as she traveled in evangelistic work with Rev. And Mrs. William Whitmore. She was known in many area churches for the service she gave.

Called in the ministry, she was a member of the Wesleyan Tabernacle Association, being the eldest living member at the time of her death. She had pursued a course of study through God’s Bible School and was ordained with the Wesleyan Tabernacle Association upon its completion. She had been a faithful member of the W.T.A. for 84 years.

She had pastored the Beech Fork Christian Baptist Church for 3years and felt the call to establish a church on Lucasville-Minford Rd. Candy Run Wesleyan Tabernacle was established there in 1955 and she later established the Wesleyan Youth Camp there. Grace had also been involved in deputation work for the Southwest Indian Missionary Association for many years.

She loved her family and her friends so much, but more than anything she loved the Lord as she boldly declared her faith until the very end. She always said, “God called me to the ministry, he never called me to quit.” Today we celebrate that she has fought the good fight, she has finished the race, she has kept the faith. Her final message was simply that we would prepare our hearts to meet the Lord so that we could rejoice around the throne of God together forever.

Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Candy Run Wesleyan Church, with Andy Ramey, Richard Williams, and Cameron Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Orm Cemetery in Rosemount. Friends may call from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday at the church, and an hour before the services on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Candy Run Wesleyan Church Youth Camp, 1115 Orm Avenue, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.
