Loretta Faye Spradlin McClay

Loretta Faye Spradlin McClay, 89 of Lucasville, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Hillview Retirement Community in Portsmouth, under the care of SOMC Hospice.

She was born on November 15, 1936 on Pond Creek, a daughter of the late Albert and Edna Keller Spradlin. Faye was a graduate of McDermott High School and Ohio University with a degree in Education. She retired as librarian at the Northwest Local School District after 35 years, where she was heavily involved with the band boosters and was an adjunct teacher at Shawnee State University.

Faye had a passion for serving Christ through her work as Central Church of Christ Sunday School Teacher for many years; and being involved in the Ladies’ and Gideons Auxiliary, and helped with Sick and Shut In, including visitations to Hillview. She also hosted the Double Nickel Club with numerous hayrides and hot dog roasts. She was also dedicated to public service, including working as a poll worker, administrative duties at the Scioto County Fair, an active member of the Scioto County Retired Teachers, Scioto County Farm Bureau, and enjoyed her time with the Morgan senior citizens.

She is survived by her three sons: Rick of McDermott, Randy (Gina) and Ryan (Bridget), both of Lucasville; three grandchildren Aaron (Lindsey) of Portsmouth, Courtney of Nelsonville, and Colleen (Fiancé Jake) of Lucasville; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Roger McClay, whom she married on June 2, 1962; and six brothers and sisters: Harold, Carl, Gladys, Martha, Jeanne, and Eunice.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the McKinley Funeral Home, with Pastor Dennis Dawes officiating. Interment will follow in Lucasville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 23, 2026 at the funeral home, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Central Church of Christ, the Gideons, or SOMC Hospice in Faye’s name.
