Stanley Curtis ‘Butch’ Stiltner

Stanley Curtis ‘Butch’ Stiltner, 80, of Portsmouth, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at SOMC. He was born on November 13, 1943, the son of the late Stanley Carl and Edna Marie Diles Stiltner.

Butch attended the International Pentecostal Church of Christ in Portsmouth. He had been a cable TV lineman, worked at the former Empire Detroit Steel Corporation, and worked as a bouncer in his youth. All who knew him knew he had a big heart and loved to help others. He enjoyed working out and was a former bodybuilder, and Butch loved football and especially liked the OSU Buckeyes.

His wife, Marilyn Sue Cooley Stiltner, preceded him in death on December 4, 2013.

Surviving are his three children, Susan Ranee (Shawn) Thompson of Portsmouth, Butch Curtis (Mandi Twaddle) Stiltner of South Webster, and Amanda Marie Scarberry of Portsmouth; a sister, Janet (John) Brown of Wheelersburg; ten grandchildren, Tana (Justin) Wright, Chance (Briana Campbell) Thompson, Ciji (J.J. Dennis) Thompson, Haley Cremeans, Courtney, Kaitlyn and Isaac Stiltner, Lacie Swim, and Jonathon and Amy Scarberrry; eight great-grandchildren, Lily, Katie, Faith and Scarlett Wright, Karsyn and Chloe Thompson, Greyson Dennis and Bruce Caldwell; a special nephew, Tim Cooley; and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, Butch was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Stone Stiltner and Ashley Swim.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 1 P.M. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Larry Blevins officiating and interment in McKendree Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour on Saturday.
