Gloria Ann (Day) Adams

Gloria Ann (Day) Adams 73 of Lucasville went to her heavenly home Tuesday, January 16th, 2024, at the SOMC Hospice Center with her family by her side.

Gloria was born on September 8th, 1950, in Portsmouth, Ohio to Charles and Anna (Christiansen) Day. She was raised in Portsmouth and throughout the early years of her life attended different churches in the area singing alongside Charley and Ann during services and revivals.  Gloria was their pride and joy.

On December 14th, 1968, she married David E. Adams of Lucasville and moved with him to Fallen Timber where, together, they built a life in the country and started their farm and family.  On July 7th, 1969, they welcomed their oldest daughter, Lisa, and on June the 17th, 1974, they welcomed their last child Julie.

Gloria worked early in her career in banking and retail but later found her true passion in working at Canter’s Greenhouse on Fallen Timber. She was a natural with plants and flowers, knowing them all by heart and what it took to make them flourish.  The outside of her home every year was a showcase of her talents and love of it.  Once her oldest daughter, Lisa became the Deputy Registrar of Pike County, Gloria joined her and became a beloved employee of customers for 20 years.

While Gloria was born and raised in the city, she became the standard by which every farmer should have beside him.  She was strong, resilient, and resourceful.  She enjoyed gardening, canning, and preserving. Gloria was an amazing cook, and her suppers and Sunday dinners were legendary.

Gloria is survived by her husband of 55 years David, her daughter Lisa Holbrook and her husband Roger, daughter Julie Violette and her husband Robert. She also is survived by her only granddaughter, Karson DeCamp, a step-granddaughter Maya Violette and special niece Kendall Bender.  She is also survived by one Cousin David Meckley of Florida and one paternal Uncle, Howard Day of Kentucky.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank SOMC Palliative Home Health and the SOMC Inpatient Hospice Center for their outstanding care.  Nurse Amanda Bentley was truly an angel among us.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Mike Gifford officiating. Visitation will be from Noon until the service on Saturday. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
