Elizabeth Ann Fugate Campbell

Elizabeth Ann Fugate Campbell, 93 of Portsmouth, died Saturday, January 13, 2024 at her daughter’s residence. She was born on May 27, 1930 in Clayhole, KY to the late William H. and Sarah (Stacy) Fugate.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cephas Campbell, sisters Vina Richards, Sue Young, Dorothy Hardin, Mattie Back, Louann Hardin, Ethel Fugate and brother Troy Fugate.

Mrs. Campbell was a retired Teacher’s Aide from Vern Riffe Center (Happy Hearts) where her passion to help others was often demonstrated. She also was a Volunteer at Southern Ohio Medical Center for many years where she especially enjoyed tending the Nearly New Shop. Mrs. Campbell was a member of the Nauvoo Methodist Church where she supported many functions with her sewing and craft ability. She enjoyed completing puzzles, reading and cross stitching.

Surviving are her children, William Cephas (Susan) Campbell of Fort Myers, Florida, Barbara Kaye (Lewis) Wilder of Niceville, Florida, Linda Rae (Chuck) Horner of Portsmouth and Phillip Dale (Sharon) Campbell of Akron, Ohio. Grandchildren: Mary Ann Wilder, David C. Horner, James A. Wilder, Michelle D. Horner, Emily A. Campbell, and Amy Campbell and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Phillip (Dorothy) Fugate of Dayton, Ohio and Lisa Weigand (niece) of Winamac, held a special place in her heart.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Nauvoo Methodist Church in West Portsmouth, with Lewis Wilder and Pete Shaffer officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Ohio Medical Center or Nauvoo Methodist Church.
