Mary Margaret Kidd
Mary Margaret Kidd, 74 of Lucasville passed away peacefully at SOMC hospice Nov 2, 2023, following a 12 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Mary was born July 22, 1949 to the late Edward and Cora Kelly of Lucasville. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, whom she married May 8, 1971; Michael L. Kidd of Lucasville; one son, J.B (Bobbi) Kidd of Lucasville; one daughter, Molly (J.D.) Whitman of Wheelersburg; along with five grandkids Maggie and Sydney Whitman, Blake Kidd, and the twins Brooklynn & Brady Kidd; and one sister-n-law, Jody Kidd. Mary was a 1967 graduate of Northwest high School, then began her career in cosmetology as a hairdresser, and later was employed with Scioto County Joint Vocational School in the child care department, as well as, a substitute teacher for the cosmetology department from where she retired. Mary was a dedicated wife and mother first and foremost. She treasured her husband and children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as mamaw. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her smile. As her memory began to fail along with her health, her loving Husband stood the test of time and began his journey as her sole care taker 24 hours/day -7days /week. The care she received was unlike any other, and the reason healthcare workers believed she held on for so long. Our family cannot extend enough gratitude to two community organizations in our area; SOMC Hospice and our dear family friend Jamie Rockwell Williams at the USSA Adult day care in the Market St area. Mary spent 5 days a week with Jamie and the love, care, and compassion she received will never be forgotten. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2023 in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg with Acy Gibson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville. Our family strongly suggests in lieu of flowers that donations be given to both of these organizations; USSA Adult Day Center,c/o Jamie Williams, PO Box 597 Portsmouth, Ohio 45662 or SOMC Hospice,2201 25th St., Portsmouth, OH 45662. These organizations are a true blessing for all families experiencing long term illnesses, and as our personal experience, our family could not have made it without them.
