Donald E. Holt

Donald E. Holt, 97 of Stout, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 at his home. He was born July 22, 1926 in Scioto County to the late Russell and Cora Lindsey Holt.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a great grandson Donald S. Stout.

Don was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a member of Rome Masonic Lodge #535, and a member of the First Christian Holiness Church in New Boston. Don was a retired Riverboat Pilot from South Point barge Company.

Don is survived by his wife of 75 years, Ruby Lumpkins Holt, a daughter Sandra Holt Hampton, grandchildren: Donald E. Stout, Tammy S. Skaggs and Donald H. Hampton, 11 great grandchildren: Jacqueline, Brittany, Jessica, Andria, Connor, Kendall, Rylee, Joshua, Cristy, Matthew and DJ, 14 great, great grandchildren and a brother, Roger Holt.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Lorenzo Bentley officiating. Interment will be in McKendree Cemetery with military rite by the James Dickey Post #23. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday and 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday. A Masonic service will be held Tuesday at 8:00 PM by the Rome Masonic Lodge.
