Wanda Kay Hoffer Blankenship

Wanda Kay Hoffer Blankenship, 85, of Rarden, Ohio passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2023 at Buckeye Forest Pavilion in Portsmouth, Ohio.  She was born September 6, 1938 in Rarden to the late Cloice and Opal Evans Hoffer.  On September 9, 1981 she was united in marriage to Harold Lee Blankenship who preceded her in death on May 10, 2011.  She is survived by three of her four children, Rick (Debby) Clay of Rarden, Dianna (Randy) Carroll of Rarden and Marty (Beth) Clay of Latham; her twin brother, Donald Hoffer; three step-sons, Harold Blankenship Jr., Patrick Jamie Blankenship and Timothy Blankenship; a step-daughter, Glenna Gilley; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Clay; step-son, Randy Blankenship; a sister, Doris Smalley and a brother, Russell Hoffer.

Wanda attended nursing school in Huntington, West Virginia where she began her nursing career at Cabell Huntington Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse and local nursing homes.  Years later she left her nursing career and helped Harold run Blankenship Grocery on Rarden Bear Creek Rd. where she enjoyed seeing and visiting people of the community coming and going into the store.  Wanda was a friend to all and loved by many.  She will be sadly missed by friends and family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2023 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway with Danny Hoffer officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Joy Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
