Ronald Eugene Cox
Ronald Eugene Cox, 78, of McDermott, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Ohio State University Medical Center.
He was born May 13, 1945 in McDermott, a son of the late Eugene and Doris Jordan Cox.
Ron was a retired custodian and bus driver for the Northwest Local School District and worked previously at Empire Detroit Steel in New Boston and Capital Manufacturing in Columbus. He was a member of the Lucasville American Legion #363 and a 1963 Northwest high school graduate. Ron loved to walleye and musky fish Scioto Brush Creek, Saugeye fish Rocky Fork Lake, visit Scioto Downs, and play any card game he could find. He loved spending time with his grandkids.
He was also preceded in death by his three sisters, Betty Cox, Janet Pertuset, and Wanda Betsacon.
Ron is survived by two sons, Tim (Shanna) Cox of McDermott, Mark Cox of McDermott; one daughter, Debby Doss (Chuck); six grandchildren, Jared (Allie), Josie (Zack), Gabe, Joey, Mark E., and Jace; and two great grandsons, Jackson and Garrett.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Daron Lilly officiating. Burial will follow in Rushtown Cemetery where military graveside rites will be performed by the William Baker and James F. Irwin Posts of the American Legion. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and an hour prior to the funeral Thursday at the funeral home.
