Betty Florence Sanford

Betty Florence Sanford, 85, of Portsmouth, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, 7:00 p.m., at SOMC Hospice.

She was born June 13, 1938 in Lucasville, a daughter of the late Durward Thompson and Helen Mitchell Thompson Osborne.

Betty was a retired caregiver and a 1956 Valley High School graduate.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Billy Ray Osborne; one sister, Latonia Thompson; and two brothers, Pete and Robert Thompson.

Betty is survived by two sons, Michael (Cindy) Osborne and Jerrald Osborne, both of Rarden; four daughters, Peggy Legg of Wheelersburg, Rebecca Osborne of Portsmouth, Cathy Ealey of Wheelersburg, Angela Osborne of Sciotoville; nine grandchildren, Amy (Daniel) Shirey, Laura (Bartolo) Cabrera, Jodi Ray Osborne, Danielle (Ryan) Bless, James (Elizabeth) Legg, Jeremy Osborne, Erik Osborne, Brandon Osborne, and Anthony Ealey; 16 great-grandchildren, Daniel, Dakota, James Priceton, James Barrett, Roman, Kadan, Jayvon, Armani, Kayla, Lelani, Lelia, Leliann, Linley Jean, Raelyn James, Eliza, Allison, Zeidon, Harper, Jaxlynn, Rylee; and two great-great grandchildren, Kyn and Luke; one brother, John Thompson of Lucasville; and one sister, Beverly Osborne of McDermott.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, October 3, 2023 in Lucasville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
