Betty Joan Jenkins
Betty Joan Jenkins, 94 of Lucasville, passed away Saturday 10, 2022 at SOMC Hospice. She was born May 11, 1928 in Scioto County to the late Orville and Carrie Carver Strickland.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Delbert Jenkins, whom she married on July 10, 1950, an infant son Delbert Jr., a great grandson, Byron Lee Stanley, 3 brothers: Charles, Richard and Harry Strickland. 2 sisters: Helen Hurst and Jean Phipps, a son-in-law, Lowell Howard and daughter-in-law Beverly Neely Jenkins.
Betty loved her family and enjoyed being with them. She loved making pillows. She also loved sitting in her porch swing watching the birds.
Betty is survived by 2 sons: Edward “Bud” (Dawn ) Jenkins and Dennis (Chris) Jenkins, 4 daughters: Suzanne Beal, Debbie Howard, Beverly Montgomery and Donna Jenkins all of Lucasville, 2 brothers: Roger and Ted Strickland and a sister Shirley Ralstin, 14 grandchildren, Patience Montgomery, Kane (Debbie) Montgomery, Lesley Howard, Darrick (Lori) Jenkins, Dina (Ronnie) McClurg, Brandon (Lindsay) Doss, Aaron Howard, Jamie (John) Johnson, Jennifer (Scott) Carmichael, Jessica (Daniel) Adkins, Ashley (Roy) Rigsby, Whitney (Heath) Honaker, Erica (Byron) Stanley and Jennifer (Tiffany)Hutchison, 31 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren along with her canine companion Pearl Lee who never left her side.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Wednesday December 14, 2022 at Big Run Community Church with George Vastine officiating,. Interment will be in Big Run Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth and one hour prior to the service at the church.
