Mary L. (Mowery) Snyder

Age 92, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, December 05, 2022, at SOMC Hospice Center.   Because of her unwavering faith and trust in Jesus Christ, she is now in her heavenly home with her Lord and loved ones who were waiting with open arms to greet her.  Mary was born March 6, 1930, to the late John Doc Mowery and Minnie Bell (Boggs) Mowery.  Mary worked at a bakery and other jobs earlier in her life, but most of her life was as a homemaker and the most wonderful mother to seven children.  She devoted her life to her family.  Especially her special needs son Tommy.  Her concern was always for his care and happiness.   She enjoyed bowling, reading, game shows, gardening, westerns, and puzzles.  She enjoyed taking Tommy to church and helping with church fund raisers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life Norman E. Snyder Sr.; a son, Norman E. “Porky” Snyder Jr.; a daughter, Paula D. Kapes; four brothers, four sisters; and five grandsons.  She is survived by two sons, Thomas E. Snyder at home and Gary L. Snyder of Portsmouth; three daughters, Lisa G. (Tim) Williams, Starlene Jenkins, Robin (Jerry) Thornsberry all of Portsmouth; seventeen grandchildren; thirty – one great-grandchild; and eleven great – great grandchildren.  She was so very loved.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (WOLFE – NELSON CHAPEL) in Sciotoville with Pastor Mark Bales officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace.  Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 pm. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Saturday.  Online condolences may be sent to DWSwickFuneralHome.com
