Alta Mae Luther

Alta Mae Luther Age 91, of Portsmouth passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at SOMC Hospice Center in Portsmouth.  She was born January 6, 1931, in Portsmouth to the late George and Elizabeth (Stiles) Huston. Alta attended Camp Bennett Christian Baptist Church.  She loved to work in her flower garden and was especially fond of her roses.  She loved to sew, sing and cook for her family.  Alta loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Alta is survived by her two sons, David Luther and wife Misty of Camp Bennett and Bobby Luther and wife Tracy of Camp Bennett; one daughter, Janet Snook of Camp Bennett; and six grandchildren, Courtney Schafer and husband Pete, Shane Snook, Isaac Luther, Noah Luther, Gabe Scott, and Carl Scott; two great- grandchildren, Raegan Lynn Schafer, and Scotlyn Rae Snook.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Luther; three brothers, Carl Huston, Ed Huston, and Stanley Reed; three sisters, Kathleen Huston, Helen Huston, and Mary Holloway; and son in law, Jeffrey Ray Snook.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022, at D. W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME (WOLFE – NELSON CHAPEL) in Sciotoville with Pastor Rick Mollett officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace.  Friends may call Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be left at DWSwickFuneralHome.com.’
