Everett Ray Gillette
Everett Ray Gillette, 86, of Lucasville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at SOMC Hospice.
He was born December 22, 1935, in McDermott, a son of the late Obel and Donna Copas Gillette.
Everett was a member of the McDermott High School class of 1954 and a member of the Community of Christ in McDermott. He retired as a Union Painter Local #555 traveling from 1957 to 1997. He loved to hunt and fish and served as former President of the Scioto County Coon Hunters Club. After his retirement, he loved to travel and camp at Rocky Fork State Park, attending the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN, Branson, MO and was a regular customer at Bob Evans, Kroger, Toro Loco, and Wal-Mart. He enjoyed watching his great grandchildren play sports, watching the Bengals, Buckeyes, along with the Northwest Mohawks and Valley Indians.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Roma Lute, Betty Strickland, Peggy Jewett, Bill Gillette, and infant brother, Mark Gillette; and a daughter-in-law, Sonja Gillette.
Everett is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Teresa Platzer Gillette, whom he married October 11, 1958; three sons, Mark (Melodee) Gillette, Scott Gillette, and Chris (Lisa) Gillette; one daughter, Susie (Scott) Schackart all of Lucasville; six grandchildren, Aletha (Duane) Knittel, Sally (Chris) Lykins, Bridget (Caleb Gullion) Gillette, Scotty (Taylor) Schackart, Cyla (Tony) Silvania, and Randi Gillette; great grandchildren Audrey, Macey, Lynley, and Deacon Knittel, Parker and Riley Lute, Silas and Noah Gullion, Ellie Schackart, Myles, Callen, and Daxon Silvania; many “bonus” grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren; siblings Mary Giamporcaro, Judy Delong, Donna (Frank) Rose, Frank (Jeanie) Gillette, Mick (Brenda) Gillette, and Sandy (Mack) Fugitt, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the McDermott Community of Christ with Daron Lilly, Ed Cable, Rhonda Morkassel, and Duane Knittel officiating. Burial will follow in Rushtown Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville and an hour before the funeral Saturday at the church.
