Stephen Patrick Lenegar

Stephen Patrick Lenegar, 73, of Lucasville, passed away Monday, August 22, 2022, at his residence.

He was born December 25, 1948, in Portsmouth a son of the late Russell Edward and Mary Hiles Lenegar.

Stephen was a retired firefighter/driver with the Portsmouth Fire Department with 24 years of service. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion.  A loving father and grandfather, he also loved his animals, always keeping the mower blades up to protect the bunnies and turtles. He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him, and especially those that love him.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Russell “Red” Lenegar; and one sister, Carol Ann Lenegar.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Carolyn Warnock Lenegar, whom he married March 18, 1978 in Portsmouth; his three children, Nicole (Wayne) Spriggs of Beaver, Jennifer Lenegar of Portsmouth, and Shawn (Tiffany) Lenegar of Portsmouth; four grandchildren, Rhiannon (Zine) Doucene of Springfield, MO,  Alanna Spriggs of Beaver, Arya Lenegar and Declan Lenegar both of Rubyville; one great grandson, Zaki Doucene of Springfield, MO;  two brothers, Mike Lenegar of Chillicothe, and Dennis Lenegar of Lucasville; one sister, Annette Buckler of Lucasville; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Noon till 2 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville. Graveside services will follow in Scioto Burial Park with Military Rites performed by the William Baker and James F. Irwin Posts of the American Legion followed by Last Call ceremonies by the Portsmouth Fire Department. Arrangements are under the direction of the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
