Betty J. Hicks

Betty J. Hicks, 86, of Portsmouth passed away, Wednesday, August 8, 2022, at SOMC Hospice.  She was born November 15, 1935, in Vanceburg, Kentucky to the late Otha and Mary Trout Throughman.  She started working as a young girl at Williams Shoe Factory, Mitchell Lace, and then Mercy Hospital until she retired.   Betty loved life but mostly she loved her children, grandchildren, and extended family. 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Hicks and beloved grandson, Brandon Hicks; 4 brothers, Bobby, Buddy, Billy, and Charles Throughman and 3 sisters, Helen Stevenson, Carol Davies, and Pauline Nortman. 

She is survived by her children; Mike (Chris) Hicks of Cincinnati, Patty (Don) Walker of West Portsmouth, Danny (Connie) Hicks of Cincinnati, Audrey Collins of Marion, and Diana Pasturzak of Portsmouth; 7 grandchildren, Jani Hicks-Moore, Donya Howard, Dwayne O’dell, Amanda Webb, Danielle Parker, Sheila Mustain, and Kendra Greenwood; 15 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews that will miss her greatly. 

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 19, 2022, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Rev.
