Virgil E. Howard

Virgil E. Howard, 92, of Sciotoville passed away Wednesday August 3, 2022. He was born June 20, 1930 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Wilbur and Alma Colley Howard.
He was of the Baptist Faith, a graduate of East High School, a member of Aurora Masonic Lodge #48, and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a US Army Veteran having served in Korea and was a retired carman for the former N&W Railroad. He lived and worked for his children and family who he loved very much.
Virgil is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis Newman Howard; three sons, Virgil Howard Jr. and wife Donna of Portsmouth, Scotty Howard of Sciotoville, Lionel Howard and wife Beth of Zephyrhills, FL; two daughters, Angela McCain and husband George of South Webster, Tina Sullivan and husband Eddie of Wheelersburg; two sisters, Ruth Maggard and Verla Messer both of Wheelersburg, 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Troy Howard, brothers Wibbey, Herman, Bob and Vernon; sisters, Mary, Carol, Pat, Arvilla, Betty and Ruby.
Funeral services will be 12 Noon Friday August 5, 2022 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Pastor Darrell Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Haverhill Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by Minford American Legion Post 622 and Lucasville Post 363. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday.
