Ralph William Wynn
Ralph William Wynn, 89, of Wheelersburg passed away Friday June 10, 2022 at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born March 13, 1933 in Williamson, W.VA a son of the late Andrew Wagner and Carrie Frances (Allen) Wynn. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James and a sister, Eloise.
He graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1951 and on November 20, 1954 he married his high school sweetheart, Betha Carol (Skeens) Wynn who survives him. Also surviving are sons, Mark and Daryl, daughters-in-laws, Missy and Becky and a granddaughter, Carrie Wynn.
Ralph was employed for 25 years in the Mechanical Department at the Empire Detroit Steel Mill until it shut down. He then went to work at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, OH as an OPI Supervisor for 20 years, retiring in January 2002. While working there, he designed a shoe which was accepted and put into use for the prison. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge as a 32nd Degree Mason and Scottish Rite ,El Hasa Shriners for 67 years.
Ralph was just a happy-go-lucky guy and known for his laughter and generosity to so many. He loved life and making people laugh and he always said he wouldn’t trade his life for anything. His philosophy was to live life to it’s fullest and “never worry about something that you have no control over” and “two wrongs don’t make a right”. He will be sadly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SOMC Hospice Center or Porter Freewill Baptist Church.
Services will be 2:00 Monday June 13, 2022 in the mausoleum at Memorial Burial Park with Pastor Tim Wright officiating. Interment will immediately follow the services.
