Lynda Lou Spittle
Lynda Lou Spittle, 74, of McDermott, OH, passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2022. She was born on February 22, 1948, to the late Fred and Emilie Needles of New Albany, OH.
Lynda was a faithful Christian, a loving wife, mother, mamaw, sister, and teacher. She was a member of the Allen Chapel Church of Christ in South Shore Kentucky. Lynda graduated from Gahanna Lincoln High School in 1966 and from the Nationwide Beauty Academy in 1967. Lynda obtained her Bachelor and Master’s Degrees in Education from Ohio University. Lynda retired from the Scioto County Technical and Career Center after teaching cosmetology for 35 years. She was a former Vice President of the Trade & Industrial Division of the Association of Career and Technical Educators. She was also a National Board Certified educator. Lynda believed teachers could make a difference in the lives of their students and teaching was her passion.
She is survived by her loving husband, Stewart Spittle, two daughters, Christina (Mark) Timberlake of South Shore, Kimberly Kulp of West Portsmouth, one stepson, Stewart (Marie) Spittle of Monroe, NC, and a sister, Stella (Gary) Jordan of Durham, NC. She is lovingly remembered by many grandchildren whom she loved dearly: Nycole Lyn Kulp, Jamie Kulp, Lyndsay (Jaime) Dadosky, Joey (Carrie) Aeh, Nathan (Katie) Aeh, Austin Spittle, and several great grandchildren: Aidyn, Miya, Sayde, Hudson, Nova, Emma, Jason, Breanna, Brittany, Emma Jean, Wyatt, Braydon, McKenzie, Millie, Aden, and Anna.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Dr. Jim Spinnati and David Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the funeral Wednesday.
A meal for family and friends will be provided after services at Allen Chapel Church of Christ, 81 Allen Chapel Rd, South Shore, KY 41175. Donations can be made to a memorial scholarship in honor of Lynda c/o Angie Commeans, 7817 White Gravel-McDaniel Rd, Minford, OH 45653. This memorial scholarship will provide select cosmetology graduates with a salon starter kit in Lynda’s memory. Lynda’s family would like to give a special thank you to all the healthcare workers who cared for her over the recent years, and especially to the SOMC Hospice nurses.
