Stephen Anthony Cooper

Stephen Anthony Cooper, 72, passed from this life on May 16, 2022 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.  He was born December 24, 1949 in Bainbridge, Ohio to the late Richard V. and M. Louise Williams Cooper.  On June 7, 1980 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Williams Cooper who survives.  Also surviving are his daughters, Amy Riehle, Lori (John) Howard, Amy (Bob) Tooill and goddaughter, Jill Brewster; grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Howard, Morgan (Joe Carnet) Howard, Megan and Colton Tooill, and Ian and Sophie Simonton; great-grandchildren, Brody, Adalie and Ainsley Howard and Prim Carnet; sister, Nancy (Tom) Day; brothers, Randy (Donna) Cooper, Jeff (Crystal) Cooper, Tim (Lourdes) Cooper and Scott (Julie) Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Cooper and nephews, Paul Cooper and Ray Davis.

Steve was a Vietnam veteran in the U.S. Navy serving onboard the USS Fresno.  After receiving an Associate Degree from Columbus Business school he returned to Ross County to work at the Chillicothe V.A. Hospital in the engineering department for 25 years. He worked there until his retirement in 1996.  Steve was a master carpenter and furniture maker. He attended church at River Valley Church in Waverly. He overcame a life changing injury through perseverance.  He had a love for music and Christmas Cantata Choir and was a recipient of the John Phillip Sousa award. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend.  He was devoted to his family, friends and community and most of all Jesus.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, May 20, 2022 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor John Howard and brothers-in-law, Tom Day and Dale Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in Gardner Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
