James Howard Zeisler
James Howard Zeisler, a former Portsmouth resident, passed away February 1, 2022 at his residence in Daytona Beach, FL.
Jim was born July 7, 1941 in Portsmouth, the son of the late Howard and Virginia (Higgins) Zeisler. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Willis) Zeisler, his sisters; Janet Schwamberger, Phyllis Jean “Pidge” Fuller and sister-in-law, Judy Huffman.
Jim was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, a US Air Force Veteran, and retired from the Columbus Fire Department. He was an avid tennis player and an official with the United States Tennis Association and Embry Riddle University, a member of the National Watch and Clock Collectors, American Legion Post #361, VFW, Eagles and Moose Lodge in Daytona Beach.
Surviving are his daughter; Carolyn (Julie Ross) Zeisler, son, Andy (Mike Griffith) Zeisler, brothers-in-law; James Willis and Sam Schwamberger, as well as several nieces and nephews. There will be a Memorial Service 11:00 AM Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Following the services family and friends will be gathering at the Brew Pub on 2nd Street in Portsmouth.
