Rev. Clarence Eugene Workman
Rev. Clarence Eugene Workman, 71, of Chillicothe, Ohio went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born January 9, 1951 in Waverly, Ohio to the late Rev. Andrew and Elizabeth Brown Workman. On June 17, 1984 he was united in marriage to Carole Dewey Workman who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Cassie (Shane) McGowan of Piketon, Ohio, Candi (Tim) Cox of Waverly and Debbie (Brian) Bixler of Memphis, Tennessee; grandchildren, Paige (Matt) Lamb, Hunter (McKayla) McGowan, Skylar (Wesley) McGowan, Alex (Bryan) Robinson, Morgan Cox and Ellis Bixler; 6 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Alison, Kayde, Keelan, Brex and Anders; and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way; brothers, Marvin Workman of Tennessee and Charles (Carol) Workman of Waverly; and sisters, Bonnie (Marvin) Bapst of Waverly and Joyce (Bud) Keibler of Waverly. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Ray Workman and a sister, Freda Arbaugh.
Clarence served three years in the United States Navy. He attended Freewill Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee and began pastoring at Bethesda Freewill Baptist Church in Jackson, Ohio. In 1981 with the help of his father and others New Hope Freewill Baptist Church was founded in Chillicothe, Ohio. Then in 1990, Clarence was a founding member of Cornerstone Baptist Church where he served as pastor for nine years. He retired from Honda in Marysville, Ohio in 2001. Clarence loved golfing, his Bible and his dogs. He also loved spending time with his family. His infectious laugh made game nights so much more enjoyable.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastors Jerry Newman and Mitch Salyers officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery on Bridge Street in Waverly. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 8th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
