Colleen Sturgill
Colleen Sturgill, 82, of Portsmouth, died Monday, February 7, 2022 at Ohio Living Westminster Thurber in Columbus, after a short illness and decline.
She was born Colleen Quinn in Cleveland, Ohio, to William (Bill) and Barbara Quinn. She lived in Steubenville, Ohio until she was 12, when her family moved to Portsmouth. She lived briefly in Columbus, Ohio and San Antonio, Texas, but Portsmouth was her home and she loved it.
After graduating in 1957 from PHS, she attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1960. She loved nursing and worked for many years at Mercy Hospital in Portsmouth, and the Bureau of Workers Compensation, during her 40+ year career.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved brother, Roger, who was killed in Vietnam in 1968; her beloved husband, Ron Sturgill, who died in 2018; and her stepdaughter, Dottie Sue Miller.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Brian) Kerr, of Columbus (son-in-law Brian, of Paisley, Scotland); four nieces and nephews – Marlyn Quinn, Allan Quinn, Sean Quinn, and Heather Quinn LaCanna, all of New Jersey; stepchildren Steve (Ronda) Sturgill of Wheelersburg and Scott (Patricia) Sturgill of Cincinnati; six step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 10, at 9:30 AM, all at FC Daehler Mortuary, 915 Ninth Street, Portsmouth, OH.
Interment immediately following at Greenlawn Cemetery.
