Hershel Dewayne Ragland
Hershel Dewayne Ragland, 65 of Stout, died Friday, January 28, 2022 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born April 23, 1956 in Munfordville, Kentucky, to the late Hershel Ragland and Lillian Smith Ragland who survives.
Along with his father he was preceded in death by a brother-in- law Terry Embry.
Dewayne’s life passion was wrapped around the racing world, starting at the age of 6 when his dad started racing. Early in life Dewayne competed and helped work on race cars. As life progressed for him, he got involved in the sport he loved through his work with Motorstate Distributers as an outside sales representative. He was able to travel around, go racing and help racers do what they love. Dewayne spent his last few years giving back to the sport through his ownership of the American Modified Series. He will be remembered most for the relationships he developed through the years in the racing industry. He made friends of a lifetime and shared many laughs.
Along with his mother Lillian, Dewayne is survived by his Fiance’ Suzanne Stall, a sister Lannie Embry, a son Michael Ragland, 2 daughters; Dawn (Rich) Pruske and Michelle (Randy) Ragland, Susie’s children; Jason Stall and Jennifer Boggs, grandchildren; Derrick Pruske, Mahala Pruske, Dakota Couch, Gage Couch, Destiny Morgan, J.D. Morgan, Trenton Ragland, Buster Boggs, Mackenzie Boggs and Alysa Frasure, special great niece, Aubrey Grace (who he called “Little Bit), mother of his children, Marsha Miles, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family’s favorite charities are Chris Francis Memorial Late Model Drivers Fund, for driver injuries. Checks to CFMLMDF, 4920 Raccoon Valley Drive, Knoxville, TN 37938. Also, Dirt Racing Outreach at the same address. Both are non profit.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday February 7, 2022 at Brooks Funeral Home in Munfordville, Kentucky with Jeremy Glaab officiating and interment in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Brooks Funeral home from 12 to 8:00 PM on Sunday and from9:00 AM till the funeral hour on Monday.
