Frank Edward Wente
Frank Edward Wente, 89, of Mansfield, formerly of Portsmouth passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at Altercare of Canal Winchester. He was born, February 9, 1932 in Portsmouth to the late Frank and Dortha (Hamilton) Wente. Frank was a 1950 graduate of Portsmouth East High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashland. He was very involved in his church he built the church annex building without charge. he loved doing anything for the church he truly had a servant’s heart. Frank loved to sing in church and loved to sing “You are my sunshine” to friends and family earning him the nickname of “Sunshine”. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved baking cakes especially for church events. He was very beloved by friends and family.
Frank is survived by six sons, Richard Wente and wife Gabrielle of Beaver, Danny Wente and wife Susan of Florida, Michael Wente and wife Tricia of Rush, KY, Duayne “Sam” Wente and wife Margaret of Lockbourne, OH, Darryl Wente and partner Nigel Rayner of Austin, TX and Anthony Wente and wife Heather of Chillicothe; two daughters, Barbara Johnston and husband Phillip of Radcliff, KY and Cheryl Walter of Groveport; a sister, Patricia Cooper of Waverly; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great – grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Wente who passed away in 2004; a brother, Jerry Wente; and two sisters, Betty Shocky and Shirley Johnston.
Funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. (NOON) Saturday, January 8, 2022 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg with Pastor Matt Stolling officiating.
