George Joseph “Joe” Sherman

George Joseph “Joe” Sherman, 79, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Wheelersburg, passed away Monday, December 13, 2021 at Lakeland Hospice House in Florida. Joe was born July 9, 1942 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late George Harold Sherman and Margaret Pauline Schwamberger Sherman. Joe was a high school graduate and was employed by Dow Chemical as an Industrial Computer technician. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his first wife, Karen Laber Sherman and a brother, Don Sherman. Joe is survived by his wife, Kathlene Isles Sherman; two sons, Larry (Cindy) Sherman and Tom (Cecilia) Sherman; two daughters, Kathy (Steve) Clay and Jody Sherman; eight grandchildren, Erin (Arrick) Wiseman, Elaine (Dusty) Spradlin, Nick Clay, Corey (Mason) Jones, Colt Sherman, Karen Sherman, Linda Sherman, Josephine Sherman and five great grandchildren.

Services for Joe will be 11:00 am Saturday, December 18, 2021 at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church with Fr. Brian Beal officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, December 17, 2021 with recitation of Rosary at 7:00 pm.
