Phyllis Ann Journey, 92, of Wheelersburg, a longtime Portsmouth resident, passed away Friday, November 5, 2021 at her home. She was born September 18, 1929, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Clifford Joseph and Georgia Blair Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Sara Journey.
Phyllis graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1947 and from the former Portsmouth Interstate Business College. She retired from RSVP after 26 years of service, having served in many capacities. A member of First Presbyterian Church since 1960, over the years Phyllis had served as Deacon, Elder and Clerk of Sessions.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Sue (David) Zoellner and Debra Lust; a son, William (Sharon) Journey; grandchildren, Rob Journey and Laura Journey; a great-grandson, Shai Journey; special cousins whom she loved dearly, Nancy, Ginny and Sally; special friends, Mary Burns and Johnny Thatcher; and numerous other friends and her beloved church family.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. John Gowdy officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Phyllis’ name to First Presbyterian Church, 221 Court St., Portsmouth, OH 45662.
