James R. “Jim” Bishop

James R. “Jim” Bishop, 69, of Portsmouth passed away Sunday October 31, 2021 at Southern Ohio medical Centers emergency room. He was born March 28, 1952 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Earmel and Lucille (Beesler) Bishop. Jim was a member of the New Boston Church of the Nazarene, was retired from the 7 UP Bottling Co. where he was a route driver for many years. He was a 1971 graduate of Minford High School, enjoyed woodworking, gardening and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jim is survived by one son, James Bishop II of Cedae Rapids, Iowa, three daughters, Chassity (Emerson) Hadsell of Portsmouth, Chelsey Bishop of New Boston and Carrie (Rick) Hagee of Cincinnati; two brothers, John (Juanita) Bishop of Cardington and Doug (Kathy) Bishop of Minford; two sisters, Connie Stevens of Columbus and Glenda (Vernon) Smith of Lucasville; grandchildren, Tyler, Christian, Lyndsee, Drew, Leah, Mae, Isaiah and Kaylee; great-grandchildren, Langsten, Owen, Abrey, Landon, Remy and one on the way, Lexie.
Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Friday November 5, 2021 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Vernon Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Scioto Furnace Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the funeral Home.
