Rita Suzanne Dyer

Rita Suzanne Dyer, 74, of Franklin Furnace passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Kings Daughter’s Medical Center in Ashland.  She was born August 25, 1947 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late John Cecil Holbrook and Juanita (Whitley) Holbrook.  Rita was a 1965 graduate of Minford High School and after that went on to become an RN.  She attended the Shale Hollow Church of God in New Boston.  Rita enjoyed riding bicycles, playing bingo and spending time with her life-long friends.  She was said to have the prettiest flowers in Franklin Furnace.

Rita is survived by her husband, Earl Dyer of Franklin Furnace; one son, Jason Craft of Portsmouth; two daughters, Monica Pratt and husband Frank of West Portsmouth, and Shellie Cottrell and husband Timothy of Portsmouth; one brother, John Holbrook Jr. and wife Sherry of Portsmouth; two sisters, Belinda “Joanie” Fannin and husband Jack of Greenup, KY, and Rose Ellen Ruggles and husband Willie of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Orlea “Chuck” Brown and a grandson, Timothy Cottrell.

Friends may call at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME “WOLFE – NELSON CHAPEL” on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens Thursday, October 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Brian Holbrook officiating.  Online condolences may be left at DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
