Joann Knowles, 84, of Sciotoville, died Saturday, October 2, 2021, with her family by her bedside at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born on November 13, 1936 in Lackey, KY, she was a daughter of the late Branch Robertson and May Reed Robertson.
Also preceding her in death were her husband, Robert D. “Lefty” Knowles, who died in 2014; a son, Dale Knowles; four brothers, Denver (Helen) Robertson, Jan (Shirley) Robertson, Reed (Kathryn) Robertson and Stan Robertson; and four sisters, Bernice (Norman) Hayes, America (Mitchell) Nichols, Martha (Clyde) Lee and Lillian Robertson.
JoAnn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved and worshipped her Lord. She was a member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Wheelersburg and retired as an operator/dispatcher for GTE with 32 years of service.
Surviving are her children, Annette (Scott) Rimmer of Ironton, James Brett Napier of Portsmouth and Kimberly (Robert) Ealey of Portsmouth; four sisters, Gladys (Paul) Boling of Winchester, KY, Boots (Douglas) Daniels, Yvonne (Woodrow) Anderson and Mary Lou (Billy Joe) Vanhoose, all of Waverly; six grandchildren, Timothy (Jamie) Hensley, Brooke (Mike) Nartker, Nathaniel (Holly) Hawkins, Katie Hawkins, Josh (Crystal) Shumway and Samantha Turley and eight great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Mason Hensley, Alley Hensley, Madalyn Nartker, Abigail Nartker, Max Nartker, Clarice Hawkins, Vincent Hawkins and Colton Shumway.
A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Rev. Charles Pennington officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
