Mayo Michael Campbell II

Mayo Michael Campbell II, age 50, of West Portsmouth, died Sunday, April 18, 2021.  He was born November 27, 1970 in Portsmouth to Kathy (Jones) Campbell and the late Mayo Michael “Mick” Campbell.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Trish Woodrow and his father-in-law, Bud Royal.

Mayo worked at SOCF for almost 15 years as a guard, was a member of the Copperheads Motorcycle Club, and was a proud Army Veteran of the 307th Engineers 82nd Airborne Division, serving in Panama and Desert Storm.

He is survived by his wife Diana (Royal) Campbell, two daughters; Mikail Dawn Campbell Nagy (Weston) of Amelia, Jaden Rayne Campbell of West Portsmouth, his mother, Kathy Jones Campbell and Thomas Spackey of Portsmouth, a sister, Angela Campbell Pierce (Che) of Sidney, nieces; Madison Campbell, Olivia Pierce, Kaleigh Woodrow, Whitney Woodrow, Torrie Woodrow, Falicia Woodrow Little (Zach), great nephew, Hudson Little, great nieces; Elisha Campbell, Jaylynn Royal, Emily Royal, Brianna Royal, and Gracie Royal.  He is also survived by brother-in-law, Ronald Royal (Heather), mother-in-law, Robin Royal, and his best friend, Claude Woodard.

Funeral services will be 4:00 PM, Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Calvin Ray Evans officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be from 2:00 PM until time of service on Thursday.

Face masks will be required but not provided for all persons while inside the funeral home.
