Shirley Jean Hanley

Age 77 of Portsmouth, passed away April 13, 2021 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth.  She was born July 13, 1943 in New Boston to Noah and Mary (Fox) Waddell.  She graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1961and attended Portsmouth Business College.  She retired from Atomic Credit Union where she worked as a branch manager, loan officer, and employee trainer for 15 years.  Shirley enjoyed working in ceramics and crafts, along with being a loyal Buckeye football fan.

Shirley was married to John Hanley they had no children together.  She is survived by two sisters, Mary Frances Madden of Murrells Inlet, S.C., and Joanne Parker of Portsmouth, nephew Steve (Judy Kay) Parker of Portsmouth; many other nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Allen Hanley in 2008, one brother, Kenneth Waddell, and one sister, Betty Leadingham.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon, Thursday, April 15, 2021 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home (Wolfe-Nelson Chapel) in Sciotoville with Pastor Brad Angus officiating.  Entombment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg.  Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  Online condolences may be made at www.DWSWICKFUNERALHOME.com.
