Rosalie Roberta Bertram

Rosalie Roberta Bertram, 95, of Ironton, a former Portsmouth resident, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley in Ironton. She was born March 7, 1925, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late William Sylvester and Rosa Belle (Wilson) Gray.

A homemaker, Rosalie was a Christian who loved music and knitting, gifting afghans to many family members. She truly loved and treated her stepchildren as her own and shared her joy with all. Rosalie also always remembered to send cards, cards and more cards to her extended family!

Surviving is her stepdaughter and her husband, who also cared for Rosalie, Patricia & Herman Chapman of Coal Grove; stepdaughter, Ruth Adams of Greensboro, NC; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-greatgrandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; caregivers, Mary and Diane; and a special neighbor, Renatte.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death March 7, 1976, by husband Charles Francis McNamara, whom she married August 16, 1941, in Portsmouth; on January 29, 1995 by her second husband, Russell Eugene Bertram, whom she married January 6, 1981, in Portsmouth; three stepsons, Russell Bertram, Jr., Joseph Bertram and Steven Bertram; a stepdaughter, Sandra Miller; brothers, David Gray, Paul D. Gray, DeWitt Gray and Edgar Hamm; sisters, Mae Scaff, Alene Thomas, Faye McClellan and Iva Gyor.

Graveside services will be held Sunday at 2 P.M.at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Rev. Darrell Ford officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth. Masks will be required due to area health regulations.
