Ernest Berl Smith,

Ernest Berl Smith, 83, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Rosemount Pavilion. He was born March 17, 1937 in Lucasville a son of the late Marian Francis and Zelma Gray Smith. Ernest retired several years ago from Scioto County Senior Center as a bus driver and was previously an Insurance Salesman. He was a US Air Force veteran. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Joann Mustain Smith; a grandson Nate; a brother, Lowell Smith; and a sister, Lona Goodrich. He is survived by two sons, Michael and Timothy Smith both of Baltimore, Ohio; one daughter, Christine Smith of Lancaster; stepchildren, Tammy Wiedbrauk, Sherry Laney, and David Layberger all of Pensacola, Florida; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great great-grandchildren; his brother, Paul Smith of Lucasville; and his sister, Emily Jones of Sciotoville. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
