James William “Jim” Hackworth
James William “Jim” Hackworth passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, at home in McDermott, Ohio.
He was born August 2, 1941, in Rarden, Ohio to the late Dorothy Merle Kirker and William Crayton Hackworth. He was a 1959 graduate of Northwest High School. On May 30, 1966 he was united in marriage to Rita Kathryn Farley.
Jim is survived by his wife, Rita, his son James Ryan (Leann) Hackworth of Wheelersburg, Ohio, his daughter Mary Kathryn (Stephen) Auer of Cincinnati, Ohio, his sister Judy (Ray) Miller of Torrance, California, and his five grandchildren: LeAnn Hackworth, Lea Hewitt, Corey Hackworth, Anna Hackworth, and Matthew Auer, and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman whose passion was hunting. He loved God, his family, horses, and cooking. He never met a stranger. He loved life and definitely lived it to the fullest.
The family would like to thank the loving nurses at Professional Case Management and SOMC Hospice for the care they provided.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway with Pastor Jason Coriell officiating. Burial will follow in Scioto Burial Park with Military honors conducted by American Legion William Baker Post #363 of Lucasville. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021 and one hour before the funeral at the funeral home.
