Laiken Nicole Salyers
Laiken Nicole Salyers, 23, of Wheelersburg, Ohio gained her angel wings on December 26, 2020 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born August 13, 1997 in Portsmouth, Ohio. Laiken was a lifetime resident of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and a graduate of Wheelersburg High School in the class of 2016. She was also a soon to be graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she would have received a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Hygiene and Safety.
Laiken’s first love and passion was her family. She was her younger siblings’ biggest supporter and protector. Her loyalty to those close to her was unmatched. She was a gifted athlete and was a member of the 2016 State Champion softball team. Laiken’s blue eyes sparkled with joy and her smile would light up any room. She never took a moment of her precious time with us for granted, and lived her life to the fullest. She loved so BIG and was loved so BIG in return. Her beautiful legacy will be forever carried in the hearts of her family, friends, and the Wheelersburg community.
Laiken was preceded in death by her great grandmothers, Wilma Riffe and Iva Glispie, grandmother, Ina Salyers, and uncle, Scott Salyers. Laiken is survived by her parents, Dusty and Chasity Salyers, of Wheelersburg; her brother, Trent Salyers; her three sisters, Sydney Salyers, and Mia and Kaia White, all of Wheelersburg; grandfathers Ronnie Salyers, of Franklin Furnace, OH, and Charlie (Alyssa) Crisp of Catlettsburg, KY, grandmother Elisa Adkins, of Wheelersburg, OH; three aunts, Becki (Chris) Rapp, of West Portsmouth, OH, Staci (Adam) Riehl, of Lucasville, OH, Sharli (Guy) Dempsey, of Wheelersburg, OH; one uncle, Charlie Joe (Charlene) Crisp, of Columbus, OH; and many loving cousins.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, Ohio. Friends may call on Sunday, January 3, 2021 from 5 to 8 P.M. The funeral will be held at noon on Monday, January 4, 2021 at Cornerstone Nazarene Church in Wheelersburg, Ohio officiated by Pastor Kenny Estep. Interment will be in Leadingham Family Cemetery.
