Danny Joe Mayhew
Danny Joe Mayhew, 65, of Portsmouth, passed away on December 29, 2020 at Ohio State University Hospital after a hard-fought battle with COVID-19.
Danny was born on January 20, 1955, in Jackson, Ohio to the late Glenn and Roxie Mayhew. He was one of seven siblings. He has overcome many obstacles in the last few months including a lung transplant.
Danny loved riding motorcycles. After his lung transplant he was looking forward to getting back to riding his bike. He was an avid hunter and fisherman which he loved to do with his best friend Randy Campbell and his son Bryson. Danny had big plans for this coming summer including a motorcycle trip with his son Bryson, traveling to Alaska to with his wife and sister to visit his daughter and grandchildren, and restoring his 1979 Corvette.
Danny is preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Roxie Mayhew, one sister Julie Mayhew, and two brothers-in-law Ronnie Diamond and George (Dixie) Mayket. He is survived and greatly missed by his wife of 42 years Vickie, his daughter Kayla (Danny) Miller, two sons Blake and Bryson; two granddaughters Chloe and Spencer Miller, one grandson Braxton Miller; brothers Gary, Leonard (Jackie), and Harry (Diane); sisters Wanda Mayket and Kay Diamond as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME WOLFE – NELSON CHAPEL in Sciotoville with Pastor Matthew Mayhew officiating the service at 12:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Wheelersburg.
