Arval Graff
Arval Graff, 91, of Portsmouth, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 27, 2020 at Hill View Health Care, after a short illness. Arval was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Arval was born at Marting Hospital in Ironton, Ohio February 24, 1929 to the late Harry and Carrie Molen Graff. Arval was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Hacker Graff, son, Alan Earl Graff, infant son, Michael Graff, infant daughter, Rachel Graff, brothers, Harry Graff and Joe Graff and sister, Evelyn Graff Hughes. Surviving is his daughter, Susan Marie King (Michael) of Vanceburg, Kentucky, his daughter-in-law, Patsy Stewart Graff of Wheelersburg, five grandchildren, Andrew Earl Graff (Amy), David Alan Graff (Lori), Katherine LaNola Horton (Josh), Nicole Marie King and Casey Michelle King and four great-grandchildren, Emily Jane Graff, Arrick Earl Graff, Wesley Alan Graff and Solomon Lee Graff. Arval graduated from Green High School in 1946. Arval married Blanche, his high school sweetheart and soulmate, at the Haverhill Methodist Church on December 24, 1947. Arval worked at Ohio Asphalt Paving (Standard Materials, Inc.) in Portsmouth, Ohio for 45 years. He retired from his job as company president in 1992. Arval enjoyed visits to Port Clinton, shelling Florida beaches on Marco and Sanibel Island. He was an avid gardener and prided himself on his early tomato harvest each year. Arval and his family resided on Sarasue Avenue, Rosemount for 46 years, prior to joining the Hill View family on March 6, 2000. Arval’s family misses him beyond measure and will love him forever.
Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park under the direction of Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.
