Emma Lou Nixon

Emma Lou Nixon, 66, of Portsmouth, passed away Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born March 28, 1954 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Opal (Payton) and William Martin Green, Jr.

Emma was a long-time employee of SOMC, a cancer survivor and a graduate of Portsmouth High School. The family extends special thanks to her family and friends at SOMC for all of the love and care they provided.

Surviving is her husband, John Lee Nixon, whom she married in Portsmouth in 1979; a son, John D. Nixon of Portsmouth; two daughters, Melissa Ann Adams and Suzanne Marie Hubbard, both of Portsmouth; four siblings, William R. “Bill” Payton of Columbus, GA, John B. Green of West Portsmouth, Mary E. Green of Portsmouth and Donna J. (Dennis) Ramey of Wheelersburg; three grandchildren, Joe Adams, Annie Adams and William Lee Nixon; and six great-grandchildren, Elena Blevins, Aurianna Jones, Kingstyn Jones, Juliette Adams, Maddie Nixon and Macie Nixon.

There are to be no services.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SOMC Breast Cancer Compassion Fund or SOMC Hospice.\
