Esther Hammonds

Esther “Faye” Hammonds, 90, of Franklin Furnace passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. Faye was born November 17, 1928 in Franklin Furnace to the late Isaac and Martha Jane Prince Stapleton. In addition to her parents Faye was preceded in death October 29, 2017, by her husband, Harold “Bud” Hammonds. She was also preceded in death by two sons Larry and Roger Stevens; several brothers and sisters and a son-in-law Raymond Skaggs. Faye is survived by a son, Joe (Annie) Stevens; two daughters, Linda Dyer and Helen Skaggs; a brother, Earl Stapleton; two sisters, Ethel Strunk and Lucille Sparks; eighteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.

Services will be 1:00 pm Friday, July 19, 2019 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelers burg. Interment will follow at Haverhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the 1:00 pm service hour on Friday. Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles.com.
