Glenda Karin Shumway
Glenda Karin Shumway, 76, of Lyndhurst, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at Cleveland Clinic. Born June 24, 1942 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Glen and Edith Fisher Powell, she was a Minford High School graduate in the Class of 1960, an elementary school teacher for 43 years retiring in 2008 and attended Disciples Christian Church in Cleveland. During her summers off from teaching, Karin enjoyed vacations at the beach and catching up on her reading. She loved to crochet and created 100’s of afghans over her lifetime. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, David Shumway; three children, Sheila (Daniel) Kropp, John Shumway, George Shumway; two grandchildren, Logan Kropp, Lydia Kropp, and three sisters, Anita Pfleger, Sandra Hickman, Cheryl (Michael) Shope. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Powell and her mother & father-in-law, Macie & Willis Shumway.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Rev. Roger McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
