Edward Jay Pennington

Edward Jay Pennington, of Waverly, passed away unexpectedly at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe early on Sunday, February 17, 2019. He was born on February 10, 1968 in Kettering to Joseph and Kathryn (Anderson) Pennington of Waverly who survive. Also surviving are two children, Cody (Ashley) Pennington of Lucasville and Kate (Justin) Rigsby of Beaver, one grandson, Layne Rigsby, a sister Pam (Tom) Fawcett of Waverly, a nephew and a niece, Ryan and Kassi Fawcett. Also surviving are life partner, Darla Ealey, and former spouse and mother of his children, Angie Harmon. Jay was preceded in death by grandparents Harry and Agnes Pennington and Judson and Gladys Anderson.

Jay was most recently employed at Birchwood Foods Inc. in Columbus as a maintenance supervisor. Jay was also employed at Pro2Serve/Flour-BWXT, Kenworth, and RCA.

Jay had many beloved family members and friends and would never hesitate to lend out a helping hand. Anyone who knew him, even just a little, lost a big light from their lives. A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 22, 2019 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Freddie Williams officiating.  Family will receive friends from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.The family wishes memorial contributions be made to Boy Scout Troop 48, 150 Portsmouth Street, Jackson, Ohio 45640, or American Heart Association, PO Box 182039 Dept. 013, Columbus, Ohio 43218-2039 or American Cancer Society, 5555 Frantz Road, Dublin, Ohio 43017.
