Mary Lelia Eckhart

Mary Lelia Eckhart, 1610 28th Street, Portsmouth, died on January 25, 2019. A native of Flemingsburg, Kentucky, she was born on March 22, 1916.

She was a member of the First United Church Methodist Church and Cornerstone United Methodist Church. She loved to cook and sewing and crocheting were her specialties. She was a housekeeper for the Arthur H. Bannon family for 60 years and a care-giver for anyone who needed help.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin Jacob and Rachel Ann Macy Eckhart; four brothers, Leroy, George, Floyd and Howard; two sisters, Lillian Belle Hardyman and Cora Allene Fritz; three nephews, Kenneth, Charles and Leo Hardyman; and one niece, Ruby Stewart. She leaves several great-nieces and great-nephews; along with a host of very special friends, in particular, the Reverends Donald Meadows and Greg Carter, whom will officiate a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 11, 2019 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, followed by a light lunch. A fellowship hour will proceed the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 808 Offnere Street, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.

Arrangements are under the direction of F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth.
